A concert scheduled Saturday, April 27, at The Camp House will raise funds for A Child Is Missing. Music by Chattanooga musician Holly McCormack, North Carolina band Birds With Fleas and Nashville-based country musician Alicia Smith will start at 7:30 p.m.
The concert also marks the release of a single by Smith, an arrangement of Jane Siberry’s 1993 hit “Calling All Angels.”
Backyard Records CEO Michael Harris organizes a fundraising event every year and this year wanted to contribute to an organization helping find lost children.
“When I searched who was recovering the most children through whatever means available, it became obvious that A Child Is Missing’s program was consistently recovering more children than any other organization,” he said in a news release. “And since they had recently lost their access to federal funding, they appeared to be the best organization to help.”
The Florida-based nonprofit, founded in 1997 to assist in the crucial first hours of a disappearance, assists in finding disabled and elderly missing persons as well as missing children.
According to the organization, more than 1,300 missing persons have been recovered nationwide as a direct result of its efforts.
