Ooltewah farmers market opens

The Ooltewah Farmers Market will hold its grand opening from 2 to 5 p.m. today, April 25, at Ooltewah Nursery & Landscape Co., 5829 Main St. It will be open the same hours each Thursday during the growing season.

The market features local farmers selling just-havested produce. No wholesalers or resellers will be allowed. A variety of locally produced items will be available seasonally, including vegetables, fruits, free-range eggs, honey, meats, jams and jellies.

Organizers recommend:

• Bringing cash in small bills. Not all farmers accept credit or debit cards.

• Comfortable shoes.

• Asking questions. Talk directly with the farmer who grew your food. While there, ask how to receive a free gift.

• Staying connected. Visit the OFM page on Facebook to join the email list for updates on special events.
