Davis drives in eight in Lee sweep

Corey Davis went 5-for-9 with two home runs, a double, eight runs batted in and five runs scored as Lee University won 11-5 and 15-0 in Southern States Athletic Conference baseball Friday at Truett-McConnell.

Brandon Rader homered, doubled and drove in four runs for the Flames (43-10, 24-5) in the first game, when Josh Silver and Brady Renner each doubled among three hits and combined to score five runs and Danny Canela was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.

Canela and Cameron Brewster each was 3-for-6 in the series finale, Brewster with a triple and a double, while Karsten Strieby hit a two-run homer. Renner and Trevor Burgess each tripled and singled and scored three runs, and Silver batted in three.

Lee, ranked No. 4 in the NAIA, trailed 5-4 after a four-run fourth inning for Truett-McConnell (7-35, 4-25) in Friday's first game but scored three in the fifth and added four in the seventh. Kyle Briner was the winning pitcher in relief. Jeremy Stawychny (4-1) and two relievers then combined on a seven-hit shutout.

* Point 4-3, Bryan 2-3: Bouncing back with an eighth-inning win to salvage a split in the road doubleheader, the Lions are 28-24 overall, 9-14 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.

Josh Harris was 2-for-2 with a home run and both Bryan RBIs in game one, and Chris Jeffries was 2-for-3 while Grant Zawadzki went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run in game two. Kevin Layne and Cody Rhinehart had the other RBIs in that win.

* Millsaps 12, Sewanee 0: At Jackson, Miss., the Majors ended the Tigers' season at 13-23 in the Southern Athletic Association tournament game. James Snover was 2-for-3 and Ben Clune had the other hit for Sewanee, which trailed only 3-0 until Millsaps (9-10) scored six runs in the fifth inning.

Wes Perkins was 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and three runs for the Majors.
