Under Construction: New subdivision brings affordable housing to Hixson

Location: Petunia Court in Hixson

Price range: $160,000 to $220,000

Average home size: About 1,400 square feet.

Scope: Construction is well underway on the first three houses of this new Hixson subdivision, which will include 37 lots when finished. Builders are starting slow, but plan to add houses, three or four at a time, over the next two years until all 37 lots are built up.

Features: These two- and three-bedroom single-family homes feature granite, hardwood floors, tiled showers and small yards to reduce maintenance. "It's a totally brand-new development," real estate agent Donnette Moore said. Both one- and two-story designs are available. Moore said the affordability of these homes is one of their key features. The subdivision is included in the Hixson Elementary, Middle and High School districts.
