Celebration of 98-year history of Birchwood School set for Saturday

Alumni and supporters will celebrate the 98-year history of Birchwood School with a Saturday event.

Birchwood Elementary is closing in May after nearly a century. Throughout its history, the school has educated students of all grades.

Saturday's commemoration will include self-guided tours of the campus, lunch in the cafeteria, a short history program and a student performance.

The event, scheduled for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., will occur at the school, 5623 Highway 60.

For more information, call the school at 423-961-2069.
