FCA honors Lookout Valley's William Long

Lookout Valley High School's William Long was honored Monday night as the 50th FCA Christian Athlete of the Year.

Long, a basketball standout who missed his senior season on the hardwood after a football injury, received a partial college scholarship from the Maclellan Foundation with his award at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes' annual Night of Champions banquet at First Presbyterian Church. He will be using the scholarship at Miles College.

Ooltewah soccer player Josh Clark was the runner-up and also will receive some scholarship support. He plans to enroll at Lee University.

Longtime area coach, teacher and administrator and current Silverdale Baptist Academy consultant Lebron Sterchi received the Gerry Stephens Influence Award, Brainerd coach Tyrus Ward earned the Jim Sattler Leadership Award, Marion County coach Heather Simmons got the Legacy Builder Coaches Award and Rock Point Community Church was honored as the FCA Church Partner of the Year.
