Chattanoogan Ben Friberg today completed his stand-up paddle board trip from Cuba to Florida in 28 hours, according to reports in social media. Friberg is believed to be the first person to have made the journey.

Earlier this afternoon Friberg was reported to be within 15 miles of Key West. Rough weather and a threat of a tropical storm delayed his adventure until just recently.

When only 15 miles away Sam Silvey, a local adventurer, who is documenting the trip, said, "He's hurting but it looks like he will make it."
