Chattanooga police investigate shooting, robbery attempt at Kennedy Jewelry

About 5:22 p.m. Monday, Chattanooga police responded to shots fired at Kennedy Jewelry, 2012 E. Main St.

Officers found that a gunman had attempted to rob the business and shots were fired by both the gunman and the victim.

The gunman fled on foot, heading south on Mulberry Avenue.

Officers quickly saturated the area, and a suspect was found hiding in a yard about a block away.

A rifle also was located that is believed to have been used in the attempted robbery.

The victim had a minor injury to his stomach and was treated on scene by EMS.
