Beaulieu hosts fair at Chattanooga State to fill 200 jobs

Beaulieu of America is hosting a jobs fair today at the Chattanooga State Community College campus to help fill job vacancies for mechanics, inspectors, truck drivers, supervisors and other jobs at the company’s seven carpet plants in Alabama and Georgia. Lynn Chambers, vice president of employee development at Beaulieu, said the carpet maker “is looking for the best and brightest” to join the 4,500 employees already on staff at Beaulieu.

Volkswagen to aid teen drivers

Volkswagen in Chattanooga is the first auto manufacturer in the U.S. to offer its community a new-driver training program that meets all of the Level 8 criteria set forth by the National Defensive Driving Institute.

The event will be offered on the weekends of Aug. 16-17, Sept. 27-29, Oct. 25-27 and Nov. 22-24. This event will serve as a fundraiser for area schools, as well.

“Cars are the No. 1 killer of teens” said Jeffrey ‘Homer’ Stillwell, founder of the Accident Avoidance Workshops, an Atlanta-based program also offered at Atlanta and Bristol Motor Speedways.

The eight-hour parent-participation program can earn the student and parents a defensive driving certificate.
