Hamilton County Commissioner Larry Henry says he’s not putting his name in the hat for the chairman’s seat when the position is elected next month. After most recently serving as chairman for three years, and serving two time prior, he said it’s time someone else got a shot at leading the legislative body.

The commission will select a chairman and vice chairman on Sept. 4.

Answering rumors that Henry would run for the Circuit Court Clerk position in 2014, which is being vacated by Clerk Paula Thompson, Henry said he was considering it. But until he made up his mind Henry would still be focusing on reclaiming his position on the commission.

“It’s something I’ve been considering, but I have not made up my mind on it yet,” Henry said.

Henry said Wednesday evening it was “still too early to decide” on seeking the clerk’s position, which is a full-time job that pays $101,000 per year.

“I’ve got interest in getting in the office and tending to some of the financial issues there, but I’ve still got a lot to consider before making an announcement,” Henry said.
