Lee University duo leading Women's State Four-Ball

The Lee University duo of Courtney Shelton and Sam Burrus from the Nashville area leads the Tennessee Women's Four-Ball Championship after combining to shoot a 3-under-par 69 at Council Fire on Tuesday. They lead the team of Linda Mullins from Cleveland and Maggie Scott from Charleston by three strokes, and the team of Chattanooga's Georgia McCravey and UTC women's coach Colette Murray by four heading into the final round today.

Charleston's Hall set for Augusta

Charleston, Tenn., resident Rheagan Hall won the girls' 14-15 age group at the Atlanta Athletic Club regional of the national Drive, Chip and Putt competition last Monday in Johns Creek, Ga.

She will be one of 11 contestants in her age group invited to the finals, which will be held the Sunday before the Masters at the Augusta National practice facility and the 18th hole.

Hall earned 146 points and won by 33 points. She said in a USGA release, "It's kind of overwhelming, but my season has been really good so far. Putting is one my strengths, but I'll have to get the speed of the greens down at Augusta."

Tucker Windham of Fort Oglethorpe finished runner-up by one point in the boys' 12-13 age division.

Clossin winner at WindStone

Patrick Clossin won the WindStone club championship in a one-hole playoff over Tucker Venable after both shot 5-over 149s this past weekend. Richard Cummins won the senior club championship with a 2-under 142. Jim Brown won the super-senior division with a 144, and Alyssa Brown won the ladies' championship with a 157.

Area aces

Mike Owens scored his third career hole-in-one last weekend at Creeks Bend. He aced No. 10 with an 8-iron from 157 yards with Joe Chaney, Paul Jones and John Keegan witnessing.

Buddy Mullican also scored a hole-in-one on No. 10 at Creeks Bend over the weekend. He used an 8-iron for the 148-yard tee shot while playing with Mike McGill, Larry Proffer and Ed Guertin.

Rick Ellis scored a hole-in-one at Stone Bridge. He aced No. 15 from 163 yards with a 6-iron while playing with Hunter Ellis.

Larry Casteel of Chattanooga scored his fourth hole-in-one Monday at the Bear Trace at Harrison Bay. He aced No. 11 from 165 yards with a 7-iron while playing with Bob Franks, Jack Johnson and Phil Sebes.

Dickie Brown scored a hole-in-one on Aug. 5 at Trenton Golf Club. He aced No. 2 from 105 yards with a pitching wedge while playing with Kent Dungan, Dan Hobbs and Mike Conyers.
