North Carolina

about Clay Bennett...

The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

EaTn,

Explain it to me. I get it that you believe that those on the far left (Liberals) can be or are Christians. However, you are wrong about that. Go back and read what I wrote yesterday and tell me where I am wrong.

Jesus said:

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3:36

Now, I certainly hope that you don't think that "believe" just means a mental agreement. In Scripture believe means to rely on, lean on, trust in,obey God.

Liberals do NOT do this. The lifestyle of Liberals is one or more of fornication, adultery, homosexuality, lying, slander, envy, greed, murder, strife, pornography, selfishness, the list is long.

Now, I love the verse, but what is your point? I hope that you don't believe in a universal salvation for all.

Your assessment of North Carolina politics is right on par with most everything else you post.

Governor McCrory's poll numbers have slipped into the negative after only eight months in office. 32% of those who voted for him have expressed that they no longer support him and the Republican dominated State Congress.

Overall, 40% of voters are happy with the job he's doing and 49% disapprove.

His approval numbers with Republicans have been steady, but he has lost even more ground with Democrats, whose disapproval numbers have risen 17 points from 53% to 70%.

Independents are turning their backs as well. Only 41% approve the job that the Governor has been doing. In June, 46% of Independents supported McCrory.

Of all the recent legislation passed and signed into law, the anti-abortion bill seems to be the catalyst behind the plunge in the Governor's poll numbers.

North Carolinians opined by a 48/33 margin that McCrory should have vetoed the abortion law, including a 51/37 margin with independents.

55% of voters are unhappy with the legislation that resulted in 170,000 North Carolinians losing their unemployment benefits in July to only 29% who supported it. 10% of all Democrats supported the elimination, with 78% opposing. 32% of Independents supported it. 55% opposed it.

Fracking is a hot issue in the state as well. Republicans in the State Senate has been working feverishly to exempt companies from being required to disclose the names of the chemicals injected into the ground during the process. 76% of all voters want those chemicals to be public information. Only 13% side with the Republicans on that issue. 68% of all Republicans, 80% of all Democrats, and 81% of all Independents desire to know the names of the chemicals used.

Voters overwhelmingly disagree that the Republican effort to abolish Sharia law is a pressing issue in North Carolina. 17% think it's a pressing issue state government should address, 46% believe it is not, and 37% did not have an opinion either way.

Even among Republicans, only 23% think combating Sharia Law is an important priority.

It's not looking like North Carolina will remain red for very long.

They have totally overstepped the will of the people, and they will pay for it too.

Conservative said several things yesterday and today which reveal some tragic realities.

He is an idolater. His God is his political philosophy. He twists the Scriptures and subverts the gospel in order to validate His politics. He is without charity, or any apparent fruits of the Spirit. He is a blind guide. His attitude and character bear absolutely no resemblance to those of Jesus Christ the Lord.

As seen in the words and actions of Jesus, God’s “will, mind, intention, meaning, standard of righteousness, and demands” proved to be very different from those of first century self-righteous “biblical” conservatives. Idolatrous conservatism is a significant part of what's wrong with the world.

Christ does not change, but He leads His true followers to change unjust traditional institutions, while extending love and mercy to their fellow sinners. Like Andrew Lohr, Conservative is obsessed with modernist American labels, categories, and ideologies. He has mistaken the traditions of men for those of the Lord. He is righteous in no one’s eyes but his own. He strains on a gnat and swallows the 2x4 of an unbelieving, god-complex.

He should repent and believe the GOOD news of Christ’s life-exuding kingdom.

you wrote "He is an idolater." You slandered me.

I told Ike that I would make plain why a Liberal can Not be a Christian and I succeeded. Can you refute anything I wrote?

You can not, you didn't even try.

Jesus who was God in the flesh was the first and original Conservative and He does not change. Read what I wrote about that and the Scripture I provided and try to refute me. You can not, you didn't even try. Instead you resorted to the worn out tactic of Liberals - attack the person when you can't refute the truth.

Now, after your slander accusing me of political idolatry, incredibly you wrote:

"Christ does not change, but He leads His true followers to change unjust traditional institutions" YOU write like

a political activist.

One of the main reasons Jesus was rejected as the Messiah by the Jews was because He refused to set up a political kingdom. Jesus came first to die for our sins, He did not come to overthrow the Romans and set up a kingdom, He refused to be a political activist.

When one accepts Jesus as his Lord and Savior Jesus rules in their hearts. This is the kingdom of God until Jesus returns and sets up His righteous kingdom.

Now, I repeatedly cited 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 yesterday to show that Liberals practice and promote and advocate many of the sins there were God's word tells us that those who do such things will NOT, will Not WWWTW inherit the kingdom of God.

Love WWWTW is telling lost sinners the truth!

Specifically you wrote: "I know more conservatives guilty of these sins than liberals."

Those who practice, advocate, promote those sins are Not Conservatives. It does not matter if they profess to be a Conservative, if they practice Liberalism they are Liberals! So obvious. Why can't you see that? I told you yesterday that it is because you are blind.

When you see phony Conservatives committing those sins call them on it. Tell them that that they are Liberals just like you.

And of course you will not get most Liberals, especially those who call themselves Liberal Christians to admit that homosexuality is a sin. They are not Christians no matter what they profess because God takes that practice away from Christians as evidence that they have a new heart and that they have been spiritually reborn.

Now, please, please get this, Homosexuality is a sin and no practicing Homosexual, not even one will inherit the kingdom of God.To believe otherwise is to be deceived. I explained that yesterday.

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

Um Cornservative,

Doesn’t the first commandment say something like: ”You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol." Also, some jack wad former attorney general said, ”When our Christian forebears fought our War for Independence, they had one motto: No King But Jesus.”

Old dead Jesus seems to fit the idolatry bill quite nicely. One could claim the same about Mohamed, but Muslims don’t put him before or even as an equal to god.

Sounds an awful lot like idolatry to me. If not idolatry, then at least really really smelly hypocrisy.

Thus I submit; Christian idolatry is rampant and you are unwilling to admit it. Therefore - YOU’RE A SINNER! And by your own theorem decorum definition description -- A LIBERAL!

I will however give a somewhat backhanded compliment to Old dead Jesus. He didn’t advocate killing the unbelievers. Not that either of us know of anyway.

P.S. We liberals are having recreational abortion party on Ikeithlu's yacht. Bring your own pork soda. You can stand, crossed arms on the bow as the scornful figurehead, tossing about as the winds of salvation blow overhead; above the wave tossed boat in an angry sea of sin. Concerning voter I.D., as voter suppression, it appears that it is no deterrent when certain peoples really have a desire to cast a ballot.

Black voter turnout surpassed white turnout for the first time on record in 2012, according to a new federal report.

"About two in three eligible blacks (66.2 percent) voted in the 2012 presidential election, higher than the 64.1 percent of non-Hispanic whites who did so," says the Census Bureau in a press release. "Blacks were the only race or ethnic group to show a significant increase between the 2008 and 2012 elections in the likelihood of voting (from 64.7 percent to 66.2 percent)." Obviously, Barack Obama has something to do with this, but it's worth noting that the trend predates the Obama presidency.

It's also worth noting that black voter turnout has been increasing even while states have been implementing supposedly racist voter ID laws.

The black voting trend is most pronounced in states like Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee. Black turnout also surpassed white turnout by statistically significant margins in Florida, Georgia, Virginia, the Carolina's and Indiana. The voter ID laws in Tennessee, Georgia and Indiana rank among the strictest in the country, yet the black voter rate in those states was higher than the white rate. If voter ID laws keep blacks from voting, where is the evidence?

By Sarah Curry:

Did North Carolina’s budget make Cuts to Education?

This is a simple question with a simple answer – NO. In government, private corporations, not-for-profits, or even in your own home, comparing a budget usually operates on a yearly basis. You evaluate what was spent in one year, and then compare it to the next year. So, when we compare the Education spending in North Carolina’s new budget to last year’s budget, this is what we see:

Fiscal year 2012-13 = $11,072,499,236

Fiscal year 2013-14 = $11,472,304,386

%Increase = 3.61

Dollar increase = $399,805,150

Obviously, the above numbers make it is easy to see that there was an increase in spending, not a decrease as so many on the Left want you to believe.

So what are they talking about?

Here is the confusion explained. Every year, the General Assembly’s legislative staff creates a forecast, and they present their opinion of funding and revenue needed for government agencies based on their forecast calculations. This is how many things are done in state government, using forecasts instead of actual numbers. So, the left is claiming there is a decrease in education spending based upon this forecast, not any real spending data.

Representatives of the people decided to increase spending on education by almost $400 million. That is a fact.

That is how we learn.

I venture that you are going to know at least a couple of Bible verses:

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

The Bible is a wonderful book, when looked at as a creation of literature. It is not, and never has been the "word of God." The only people who believe it is the word of God, are those who have had that drummed into their heads by preachers on a pulpit.

People who believe such nonsense have never in their lives taken the time to research the Bible, much less the verifiable proof that the people who have had a hand in altering it, did so for their own religious ideologies.

Conservative exposes one of the very reasons why religion has divided an entire world, much less our nation. Conservative exposes why it is that religion must never, ever be infused in the formation of laws in these once United States.

All these inroads that Conservatives may have made in their obsessive attempts to prevent legalized abortion, are about to come to a head. The backlash is going to be swift.

If religious wingnuts put as much effort into self-reflection as they did in convincing others of their self-righteousness, they might find themselves admired, decent people.

Conservative, you do nothing to further Christianity. You turn people completely off to it. You are so far removed from reality, it is scary.

What's even worse, is that in your feeble and limited mind, with no hesitation whatsoever, you are so delusional that you find that you must publicly condemn anyone with alternative political ideologies, declaring them totally Atheistic if they do not meet your prerequisite platform of beliefs.

Under the criteria you have offered in this forum many times, no one but yourself would have half a chance to be admitted into Heaven. You are so convinced and blinded by your own self-righteousness, that you fail to see your own sins, which likely threaten to derail your own chances of admission inside those pearly gates.

A true Christian is not one who throws out Bible verses at people, expecting them to hit some mystical, magical mark, that will make them fall to their knees at an alter of confession.

A true Christian leads by example and emulates the teachings of Christ, who never condemned, never judged, and who never spoke of his father but terms of the love that he has for everyone.

Your brand of Christianity is rooted in hate. You inspire nothing and no one. You epitomize everything that turns people away from religion.

I also worked for the church for 30 years, and appreciate greatly what it does. Since you were reasonably contrite in your above admission of error I won’t make this excessively harsh. I’m beginning to believe you were not a teacher but that you worked for the IRS since they admitted a deficiency in math and logic. If you were a teacher and worked at private schools as you claim then I'm re-evaluating my stand on those schools.

Do you really believe that 38% of the White population and 39% of the Black one are on Welfare?

Those numbers represent the percentage of total welfare recipients for the different races and not of the total population. You’re still wrong and should have left it alone after your initial realization that you had made an error.

However, it is a known fact, and it has been proven in this very forum, that there are people who bastardize that which can be found in the Bible, to judge and condemn others.

Further, their understanding of what is written in the Bible is often on par with that of a child trying to read legalese.

Taking Biblical scripture completely out of the context it was written, and using it as barbs of condemnation, is often done by those who have not the ability to converse on any meaningful level using their own brain.

Here is a SMALL sample relatively speaking, of your words that condemn you:

"Jesus can not be God"

"Face the truth for once in your life. God is a murderer and a mass-murderer at that...IF THE BIBLE IS ACCURATE."

"The idea that we are to accept a mass-murderer as an object of worship doesn't reflect well upon Christians at all. If he murdered nearly every human on the planet, God is far more heinous than Hitler. Yet Christians are to willfully worship him without question. Why?"

"Your belief in the Bible as a literal work of God locks you into the belief that God is a mass-murder, whether you admit it or not. My belief that the Bible is not the word of God, and instead is the work of many men, frees me from that belief."

"Was Jesus a perfect man while on Earth? Although few and far between, there is scripture that suggests that Jesus was not perfect."

"Is he perfect now? The Bible does not make that clear."

"If you believe the Bible to be 100% accurate in all regards, then you by default believe God to be a mass-murderer."

"My belief that the Bible is not the word of God in no manner is equal to holding any contempt for it."

"Did Jesus deceive or lie? One instance in the New Testament seems to offer that he did"

Something popped up in the news over the last couple of days that it seems no one has mentioned, and I found it quite hilarious.

Freshman Senator Ted Cruz, who has been in Congress for only 8 months, has been amazingly making all the moves to poise himself as a Presidential candidate for 2016. And after all the birther nonsense that Obama has had to endure, the silence from the birthers is deafening.

There is no mystery or controversy about Ted Cruz. He is not a natural-born citizen of the United States. He was born in Canada, to a mother who was born in Delaware and to a father who was a citizen of Cuba.

Long-time birther Donald Trump, who appears to be setting himself up for another run for President, at least had the decency to be consistent, albeit more polite in his response.

Trump is still convinced that Barack Obama was born in Kenya, to a mother from Kansas, and a father from Nairobi, despite all the proof that he was indeed born in Honolulu, Hawaii.

When asked if he thought that Ted Cruz was qualified, he responded with a quick, "Perhaps not. I don't know the circumstances. I heard somebody told me he was born in Canada. That's really his thing."

Ted Cruz believes himself to be fully qualified.

"My mother was born in Wilmington, Delaware. She's a U.S. citizen, so I'm a U.S. citizen. I'm not going to engage in a legal debate. The facts are clear. I can tell you where I was born and who my parents were. And then as a legal matter, others can worry about that. I'm not going to engage."

Fellow Freshman Senator Rand Paul dodged the question when put to him the other day. "You won't find me questioning his eligibility. I decided a long time ago I wasn't going to be a birther for Democrats. I'm not a birther for Republicans. I'm staying out of that. Yeah, I'm just staying out of that one."

Ted Cruz wants to be President. I don't personally think that the eight month old Senator has half a chance, and the fact that he is even being proposed as a contender, is testimony to the fact that the Republicans have no one who has half a chance to defeat Hillary, who by the way is polling higher with Republicans than any of the Republicans being floated as potential nominees.

It's going to be a long, long 2016 election cycle. I've been stocking up on low-fat, organic popcorn so that I can sit back and enjoy the show, 'cause this one's gonna be entertaining as it gets.

alprova,

Now to your misunderstanding and missuse of "self righteous." One of my first encounters with you revealed to me your gross ignorance of Scripture. You cited numerous Old Testament verses you claimed where Jesus gave monetary assistance to the poor. That of course was impossible for Jesus had not yet come into the world as the God man. And He never gave monetary assistance to anyone in the New Testament either.

I also recall how you were trained by a heathen teacher to believe that there were contradictions in the Bible when you were a snotty nosed kid. She has probably already had her day in court with God.

Your ignorance also abounds in your much use of the words "self righteous." It applies to YOU alprova. YOU are the one who is self righteous.

You have never once admitted in our exchanges that you are a sinner. You have had years of Mormon cult training that teaches a form of works salvation. BTW, Mormons are not the only ones that teach that false doctrine. There are also scores of people in traditional Christian churches that are trusting in their good works to get them in heaven as well.

THIS IS SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS!

Scripture tells us that all of our righteousness is as a filthy rag in the eyes of God and that none of us is righteous. Scripture, the Scripture you reject, tells us that by faith in Jesus Christ we are then accounted righteous.

WE HAVE NONE OF OUR OWN!

However, You believe mentally whether you practice it or not that good works or the combination of good works and being a good person in your eyes will get you into heaven in spite of your sins. You like scores of others believe this.

THIS MEANS THAT YOU ARE THE ONE WHO IS SELF RIGHTEOUS!

YOU have rejected Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. One is clothed in His righteousness or they bring their own on the day of judgment.

BUT SCRIPTURE TELLS US THAT WE HAVE NO RIGHTEOUSNESS OF OUR OWN!

That is apple and oranges.

Also, you Liberals just pass the term self righteous around oblivious to the meaning of the term.

alprova,

I explained in minute detail why a Liberal can NOT be a Christian, NOT why he can never become a Christian. When Liberals repent of their sins and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior they are no longer Liberals. They abide in God's word, they live a life of obedience to God's word.

"Trust and obey, for there is no other way" sound familiar?

I appreciate Conservative's rants as a representative of Christian dogma as seen through the eyes of a madman. Not only are his posts high in entertainment value, extremely funny, and visually bring to mind a deranged character like Renfield in the "Dracula" book and movies, his delusions help others to see the fallacies of Bible literalists and fundamentalism in general.

I'm not sure if the rumor is correct though, that Conservative is really June Griffin in drag. However, with his continual homophobic utterances I do suspect that Conservative has a hidden closet. Let's hope he stays in it.

Seems that the competition to be Jesus is increasing.

http://tinyurl.com/keh48d4

Pick your favorite Jesus and Super Savior. Act now and receive salvation, peace, and an extra-large bucket of Christ-on-a-Cracker and beverage of your choice (grape juice or cheap wine).

All for the low, low tithe of 10% forever. Yes, join others who lose the ability to think rationally, sing awful gospel songs about blood, sin, and fear (as sung by overweight quartets with fake tears and hair), and shout "Amen" about God's great love in killing innocent people.

So spin the wheel of ignorance and see which Savior you'll proclaim as God's Son! (Must be 6 months old to be indoctrinated. Your choice to be sprinkled, splattered, or immersed in water. Original sin and suspension of independent thought required. No knowledge of science, history, or rationality accepted. Must be able to thump for hours, cry on cue, shake, shimmy, and fall down at faith-healer's command, and not have any amputated limbs as God hates amputees since He never heals any. Must be financially able to buy giant crosses, kill infidels, heathens, and free-thinkers, watch old episodes of Billy Graham and Oral Roberts without laughing, and finally, accept everything some wanker says God told him).

Extra salvation points if you believe in "miracles" like Jesus on toast, Mary on a grill cheese, and God's tears like this episode in California. http://tinyurl.com/o2occo6

Act now and get your Jesus today! (Offer not good anywhere people think for themselves.)

The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt Thursday vowed to bring down the “military coup” that toppled former President Mohammed Mursi and said it remained committed to peaceful activism after a deadly crackdown to disperse sit-ins by protesters calling for the re-installment of the Islamist leader. Something popped up in the news over the last couple of days that it seems no one has mentioned, and I found it quite hilarious.

Freshman Senator Ted Cruz, who has been in Congress for only 8 months, has been amazingly making all the moves to poise himself as a Presidential candidate for 2016.

There is no mystery or controversy about Ted Cruz. He is not a natural-born citizen of the United States. He was born in Canada, to a mother who was born in Delaware and to a father who was a citizen of Cuba.

Birther Alert!!!!!

Ted Cruz believes himself to be fully qualified.

Ted Cruz wants to be President. I don't personally think that the eight month old Senator (?) has half a chance, and the fact that he is even being proposed as a contender, is testimony to the fact that the Republicans have no one who has half a chance to defeat Hillary.

Oh The Irony!! Freshman senator Obama amazingly was giving speeches in primary states and was being touted as a presidential hopeful within a few months of entering the Senate. Cruz is also a minority and held higher level government positions and responsibilities than Obama. The clincher is that Obama laid one up the side of Hillary’s head during the primaries in 2008 which shows she is beatable for sure.

NPR’s Voting Rights Battle: 92-Year-Old Black Woman vs. Racist Governor

By Jeffrey Meyer

Media liberals have been up in arms since the Supreme Court decision that Congress should revisit the Voting Rights Act. They’re also upset about North Carolina, which on Monday, August 12, passed sweeping new voter laws including the use of state issued ID cards in all elections starting in 2016.

On the August 13 All Things Considered on NPR, reporter Dave DeWitt of North Carolina Public Radio mostly channeled the view of unlabeled “voting rights advocates” like the NAACP, who presented a sympathetic 92-year-old woman (Rosanelle Eaton) who was allegedly being denied the right to vote by Gov. Pat McCrory.

DeWitt didn’t include a recent speech from Eaton where she boasted “I have registered over 4,000 citizens in the state.” So how is it that she can’t manage to acquire a valid ID?

DeWitt misled NPR’s listeners about the heart of the bill, failing to mention that the state of North Carolina will provide all citizens with free state-issued ID cards and that the number of total early voting hours will remain the same in all future elections.

CNN host Jake Tapper said President Obama's decision to speak about the violence in Egypt on Thursday came after a phone call that morning where he was informed about the severity of the situation. Tapper said the news came from a senior White House official, who said Obama was briefed on the situation by National Security Adviser Susan Rice on Wednesday. Apparently, the woman who had blamed the September 11, 2012, attack on Benghazi on a Youtube video did not fully inform the president during his vacation about the violence taking place in Egypt. Would be funny, if not so scary. What a team of nit-wits.

Conservative had a spittle replacement today, his keyboard professionally cleaned, his Bible ironed, his chastity belt lubed, and a couple of stonings of heretics to attend where he served as Stoner-in-Chief and High Priest of Big Rocks. Not to forget his regular patrol of public restrooms for suspected gay activity and to write on the stall walls, "Jehovah Sees Your Pee-Pee and Condemns You to Hell for Touching It!"

It was a busy day for the Con-man. But at the end of the day he has the satisfaction of doing Gawd's work.

Oh you with little on his mind would know that the maximum character limit, per post, is 3,000 CHARACTERS, if you ever had something on YOUR mind worth posting.

I've never posted a 5,000 WORD post.

And you're just flat out wrong. When I post, I quite often have lots to "say."

There is a word to describe your demonstrative demeanor in this forum.
