Submissions open for Lookout Wild Film Festival - ongoing

Saturday, August 10, 2013

After a successful debut in 2013, the Lookout Wild Film Festival is accepting film submissions for the 2014 festival, to be held March 21-23 in Chattanooga.

The aim of the festival is to showcase wild places and the people they inspire through film.

The inaugural festival in March 2013 featured two dozen short and feature-length films about adventure sports, conservation and exploration. Half of the films had some connection to Chattanooga or the Southeast. Guests were treated to a live bird demonstration from filmmaker John Stokes and his bald eagle, Osceola, as well as a video Q&A with award-winning filmmakers Steve and Elizabeth Wampler.

Already this season, festival organizers have received 20 submissions from Tennessee, Georgia, Minnesota, Washington, New York and California. Filmmakers from as far away as Egypt and Hungary also have inquired about submitting their films.

In 2013, the panel screened 75 films from more than 15 countries to pick the selections for the audience.

To submit a film, filmmakers should visit www.lookoutfilmfestival.org and follow the 2014 submission link. The early deadline for discounted submissions is Sept. 1, and the late deadline is Dec. 20.
