KODAK, Tenn. -- An eighth-inning home run by Javier Baez was the difference as the Tennessee Smokies edged the visiting Chattanooga Lookouts 4-3 in Southern League baseball Thursday night.

Baez's blast to center field off Pedro Baez broke a 3-all tie and sent Chattanooga to a fifth consecutive defeat. The Lookouts are 16-36 this half, including 4-24 in road games.

Chattanooga took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Rafael Ynoa doubled and scored on Brian Cavazos-Galvez's single to left, and the Lookouts made it 3-0 in the third on a two-run home run by Joc Pederson.

Game four of the five-game series is tonight at 7:15. Rob Rasmussen (3-3, 2.52 ERA) is scheduled to start on the mound for the Lookouts, with Matt Loosen (1-3, 7.48) scheduled for the Smokies.
