Bradley Central's offense was as simple as pitch and catch for much of its period of action against Tyner in the football jamboree Friday night at Finley Stadium.

After the first of Baylor Terrell's two interceptions set up the Bears at Tyner's 19, senior quarterback Brett Standifer, a transfer from Soddy-Daisy, found Dee Crisp in the right corner of the end zone for a touchdown early in the quarter. Bradley's defense made the lead stand up for a 7-0 win.

"We've got several good receivers and Standifer can throw it around pretty good, so those guys are going to have to carry us offensively early on," Bradley coach Damon Floyd said. "Hopefully that threat will also open up some running lanes for us. I thought we were pretty sharp throwing it, and Terrell made a couple of nice plays to get us the ball back."

• Cleveland 14, Boyd-Buchanan 0: The Blue Raiders have a pair of difference-makers in quarterback Austin Herink and receiver D.J. Jones, and it showed against a Buccaneers defense that is replacing 10 of 11 starters. The two hooked up on a 79-yard TD and Jones also had an interception. Raekwon Bunion had a 34-yard touchdown run.

"That was a bad performance for us, but Cleveland's a good football team," Boyd-Buchanan coach Grant Reynolds said. "We had some good plays and some bad and more bad than good, and we didn't play good defense. That's my fault. Our kids weren't disciplined on defense, and I've got to do a better job of coaching them."

• Brainerd 0, Silverdale Baptist 0: Both teams' defensive units looked much better than their offenses.

"That front six or seven played with a lot of enthusiasm, and I was happy to see that. How they do is going to determine how far we go," first-year Brainerd coach Brian Gwyn said.

Silverdale has numerous holes to fill from a record-setting 2012 team, and the Seahawks were missing a handful of 2013 starters.

"We shot ourselves in the foot from the get-go, but we're going to be all right. We had a fumbled snap and an interception, but that stuff's fixable," SBA coach Al Rogers said.

• Baylor 14, Franklin County 0: In the final matchup of the evening, the Red Raiders' offense was rarely slowed. Junior quarterback Nick Tiano made a couple of nice deep throws, including a 30-yard hookup with Gage Upshaw to set up Baylor's first score, a 14-yard screen pass to George Porter.

Porter later had a 4-yard TD run, and the Red Raiders were driving again on their third possession before time expired.
