Creative Arts Guild celebrates 50th anniversary

What: Two hundred guests attended a party at the Creative Arts Guild in Dalton, Ga., on Aug. 10 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the nonprofit that promotes visual and performance arts in North Georgia. The event included a 50-year timeline exhibit in the guild's performance hall, followed by dinner and dancing in Spigel Pavilion.

Benefits: The gala culminated a Golden Givers campaign to raise $500,000 in five years. The CAG surpassed that goal and raised $600,000. Executive Director Terry Tomasello said 50 percent of those funds will start an endowment named in honor of Anne Farrow, longtime guild board member and current chairwoman of the board of trustees. The remaining money will be placed in a reserve account to fund various guild projects.

Benefits: Scholarship recipients were Abigail L. Brown, a senior education major at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga; and recent high school graduates Adam Hubert, Tyler Phillips and Alexandria Reno. Hubert will attend Berry College, Phillips will attend Covenant College and Reno will attend the University of Alabama.
