Waupaca Foundry announced that employee Brittany Hoover collapsed at its Etowah, Tenn., plant Monday, and later passed away at Woods Memorial Hospital.

An official investigation is under way. Waupaca Foundry said in a press release that based on an internal safety review, it appears her collapse was not related to working conditions or duties.

"We are sadded by this loss," said plant manager Sam Greene. "Our prayers and sympathy are extended to all of Brittany's family and friends."

Etowah City Police Department officials are investigating the incident.
