Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke this morning announced plans to work with Erlanger Health System to preserve five acres of land the hospital owns in Lincoln Park that could be used as green space and historic park for the community.

He made the announcement at a news conference this morning in Lincoln Park. Erlanger CEO Kevin Spiegel was there as well. Residents from the Lincoln Park community also attended.

Erlanger trustees did not discuss a draft resolution of the hospital's plan to donate the land to the city. Trustees said that they need more information before making that decision.

However, Spiegel said the board of trustees is committed to making the donation a reality.

Berke emphasized that the city has no plans to extend Central Avenue through the park. City officials have been evaluating several options to connect Central Avenue and Amnicola Highway.
