KNOXVILLE - A 24-year-old Oak Ridge man was the first person picked Friday morning as part of the audition process to appear on "American Idol."
Cameron Dickerson jubilantly clutched the "golden ticket" handed to him by show officials downtown at Krutch Park after singing at an early-morning audition. It took about 30 minutes from the start of the process until Dickerson learned he'd been selected.
A number of others also received the sheet indicating they'd be able to go further on the track to perhaps appearing on "Idol."
