ATLANTA (AP) - Police say they consider the death of a woman struck and killed by a car in Atlanta as an intentional act.

Authorities say the woman was struck around 5:30 p.m. Sunday at a southeast Atlanta intersection.

Police spokeswoman Kim Jones tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that witnesses reported that the driver revved his engine as he drove toward the woman as she walked on the sidewalk. The witnesses told police that the car jumped the curb and struck the woman.

Jones said the driver, a 63-year-old man, is facing charges in connection with the death.
