Fire destroys house for sale on Signal Mountain

A house for sale on Signal Mountain is a total loss after a fire Tuesday night.

Firefighters responded to a fire at 3905 Anderson Pike just after 7 p.m. to find a house 25 percent covered in flames, as well as heavy smoke showing in the attic area.

The roof was heavily damaged, and firefighters were unable to save the house.

The homeowner, Al McMurry, had the house on the market, and nobody was living at the residence. No injuries were reported. The cause is undetermined, and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
