An army of elves is hiding within businesses on the North Shore. Find at least 10, take a photo of you and each elf with your cellphone and then turn the photos in to Santa at Knitting Mill Antiques for a chance to win a $250 grand prize.In what is believed to be a first-of-its-kind competition, the NorthShore Merchants Collective is launching a Selfie With an Elfie contest.
Some three dozen North Shore merchants have an Elf on the Shelf elf inside their store. Contestants need to locate the elves and take a selfie with each elf. (A selfie is a picture you take with your cellphone). Businesses in the district have posters identifying participants.
Once the contestant collects 10 selfies, they can post the photos on the NorthShore Merchants Collective Facebook site or take them to Santa's NorthShore Workshop inside Knitting Mill Antiques, 205 Manufacturers Road, to register and get a free picture with Santa.
The person collecting the most selfies will win a grand prize of $250 (a random drawing will determine a winner in the event of a tie). Only one selfie from each participating business will be counted. The competition will end at 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24.
