In swamping Mars Hill College in the second Igloo Invitational meet Friday and Saturday in the Sewanee pool, Sewanee's women and men swimmers and divers set nine meet records, and freshman Caty Hueske also set pool and school standards with her 2:08.30 time in the 200-yard backstroke preliminaries Friday. She, Astrid Escobar, Erin Neil and Carolyn Rice set a meet record in the 400 medley relay. Other Sewanee record-setters Friday were Grace Cobbs in 1-meter diving, Brian Glatt in the men's 100 freestyle, Mac McNally in the men's 200 butterfly and McNally, 200-IM winner Michael Whitehead, Evan Escobar and Glatt in the 800 free relay. The Tigers' Will Ralston and Jackson Cromer both broke the old meet record in the men's 200 back but yielded the new best to first-place Sal Russo of Mars Hill. Russo added a pool-record 51.33 in the 100 back and the 100 fly meet record Saturday, when Astrid Escobar in the 200 breaststroke, Glatt in the 200 free and McNally in the 400 IM won for Sewanee and had meet-record times. Other Saturday individual event winners for the Tigers were Rice in the women's 400 IM, Mallory Graves in the 50 free, Hueske in the 100 back, Anna Thorson in the 200 free, Whitehead in the men's 200 breast, Neil in the women's 100 fly, Cobbs in women's 3-meter diving and Courtney Moore and David Evans in the men's six- and 11-dive 3-meter events. The Sewanee women beat Mars Hill 1,195 to 400; the Sewanee men won 1,139 to 899.

• Sophomore Haley Coffelt from Grundy County scored a career-high 10 points as the Carson-Newman women's basketball team took over first place in the South Atlantic Conference with a come-from-behind 66-58 home win Saturday against Catawba. Senior Chante' Markus and junior Jassmine Franklin also had career highs with 16 and 13 points for the Lady Eagles (6-2, 4-0).
