Visitors to Creative Discovery Museum on Saturday can learn about musical instruments during Chattanooga Symphony & Opera’s PopTots performance.

A quintet from the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera will present a Holiday Blanket Show on Saturday, Dec. 14, as part of PopTots programming at Creative Discovery Museum, 321 Chestnut St.

PopTots is a series that uses musical performance and instruction to help toddlers develop cognitive and fine motor skills.

“Music is a strong learning tool in early childhood development,” explains Liza Blair, the museum’s arts manager.

Performances will rotate in three 15-minute shows between noon and 2 p.m. Children will have a chance to play instruments with the musicians for one song during each performance. During the breaks, musicians will talk with guests and offer the opportunity for everyone to touch and play different instruments while learning how they work.

The program will be presented in the auditorium. Participation is included with museum admission of $11.95.
