The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling team has a dual match tonight at nationally 15th-ranked Stanford and closes out the 2013 part of its schedule Sunday in the Reno (Nev.) Tournament of Champions. The Mocs (5-4) will host the high-powered Southern Scuffle the first two days of January in McKenzie Arena. After losing 21-15 to No. 21 Purdue last Sunday at a suburban Atlantan high school, in a match decided by the last bout, UTC beat Gardner-Webb 35-3 in a Southern Conference home match Monday. Stanford is 8-2 with victories against ranked teams Maryland, Michigan and Central Michigan and losses to Eastern Michigan (18-16) and No. 9 Nebraska (28-12). UTC junior 165-pounder Corey Mock is ranked fourth and seventh in two national polls with his 12-0 record, and senior Alex Hudson at 157 and junior Kevin Malone at 285 are 10-2 and 11-4.

Basketball

• Lee University won both parts of a Gulf South Conference basketball home doubleheader Thursday night against Valdosta State, 69-44 in the women's game and 72-59 in the men's, making each Lee team 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the league. That was the first loss of the season for the VSU men, ranked 25th in NCAA Division II. Hollie German was 6-of-10 on 3-point shots and totaled 29 points and five assists for the Lady Flames, who got 14 and 10 points and seven rebounds apiece from Jenna Adams and Myriah Iles. Corey Billingsley hit 10 of 11 free throws in scoring 20 points for the Flames, with eight rebounds and four assists, and Stedmon Ford scored 15 points on 5-of-8 3-point success.

• Tennessee Temple University won its women's basketball game Thursday night at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Ala., 74-51, but lost the men's contest 81-76 for Spring Hill's first win in 11 games this season. Amanda Rector had 25 points and four assists and TaQuasha O'Neal had 20 points and three steals for the Lady Crusaders (4-8), who got 13 points and nine rebounds from Angel Foster and five steals from Shakoya Monroe. For the Crusaders (7-5), who had a bad first half, Elliot Johnson scored 16 points, Hampton Mack and Rashaud Bell had 15 each and Weedlens Beauvil tallied 13.

Boxing

• Chattanooga native Ryan Martin's second professional boxing match tonight in Queens, N.Y., as part of the "Big Apple Boxing" card will be streamed live at Gofightlive.tv.com, according to his manager, Tim Van Newhouse of Cleveland, Ohio. The event costs $9.99, Van Newhouse said. The 20-year-old Martin (1-0) will fight Eric Jamar Goodall of Las Vegas in a four-round bout.
