Thomas Kandziorski gets 30 months in child porn case

Thomas Kandziorski, 62, of Fayetteville, Tenn., was sentenced on Dec. 16, to 30 months in prison on federal child pornography charges, according to a news release.

U.S. District Court Judge Harry S. Mattice Jr. also ordered Kandziorski to complete 15 years of supervised release and register as a sex offender.

Kandziorski pleaded guilty on Aug. 14, 2013, to one count of possession of child pornography.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department executed a search warrant at Kandziorski's home and seized a computer, a camera and several electronic storage devices were also seized. Some of those devices were found to contain images of child pornography.

Kandziorski admitted to law enforcement that he knew child pornography was stored on these devices, the release stated.

The investigation was spearheaded by the Winchester, Tenn., police department with cooperation from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department, the FBI and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorneys Terra L. Bay and John MacCoon were the prosecutors.

William C. Killian, U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Tennessee, said in the news release that "this is yet another example of the hard work and partnership between the federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to protect the children of our District and prosecute the predators who endanger them."

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
