Heritage High School has named E.K. Slaughter as its new head football coach. Slaughter had been the head coach at Red Bank High School the past two seasons and also has been a head coach at Cleveland and Soddy-Daisy.

"It's a combination of a great community with great people and I'm exciting to go down there and get started," Slaughter said. "It'll be an adjustment, there'll be a learning curve while I get to know the kids and the opponents since I've coached for so long in Chattanooga."

Slaughter takes over for Tim James, who had been the only coach in the program's six-year history. Last season the Generals finished 1-9.
