ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — An animal rescue activist on the Alabama coast says he’s seeking to press charges against the owner of a puppy that he says was thrown off a second-story balcony.
WKRG-TV reports the puppy, a 4-month-old husky-mix called Nava, survived the fall. But a veterinarian had to amputate one of the dog’s legs because it was too badly broken.
Veterinarian Chris Schreiber says a good Samaritan brought in the injured dog for help.
Steve Williams of Furrever Homes Animal Rescue says he tracked down the owner and filed a complaint with police. Williams says he was told the owner tossed the puppy over a balcony because it nipped at a toddler.
Police in Orange Beach are handling the investigation of Williams’ complaint.
