Chattanooga Mocs rally late, but lose at Georgia Southern

STATESBORO, Ga. - The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga lost 59-57 at Georgia Southern.

The Mocs trailed by 21 points early in the second half, but rallied to lead 57-56.

Then potential NBA player Eric Ferguson hit a 3-pointer with 11.7 seconds left to put GSU ahead by two. UTC freshman Gee McGhee missed a shot with four seconds left.

McGhee led the Mocs (8-14, 3-6 SoCon) with 19 points. Zaccheus Mason added 14 points and Drazen Zlovaric had 10 points.

C.J. Reed led the Eagles (10-13, 4-6) with 19 points. Ferguson added 16 points.

UTC trailed by 21 points with 16:13 to play. The Mocs were down 48-27 at that point.

The Mocs took their first lead on two free throws by McGhee with 40.2 seconds to play.

Then Ferguson hit his 3-pointer.
