  • photo

The Red Cross is operating shelters for Northwest Georgia tornado victims in Gordon and Bartow counties, and today relocated the Gordon County shelter to the Sonoraville Recreation Complex at 7494 Fairmount Highway in Calhoun.

Red Cross shelters offer volunteer support and cots, blankets, meals, personal hygiene items and health services, according to a news release. Also, the Red Cross is stepping up mobile relief efforts in the affected areas. Four emergency response vehicles are providing snacks, water, meals, blankets and clean-up supplies, the release states.

The Bartow County shelter is located at the Manning Mill Youth Facility, 163-B Manning Mill Road NW, in Adairsville.

To support Red Cross disaster relief efforts, Georgians may go to www.redcross.org or call 1-800-RED-CROSS to make a credit card donation.
