It’s building season.

And that means customers will again begin flocking to do-it-yourself home improvement stores, preparing to build that new deck, kitchen or bathroom.

The Home Depot, which bills itself as the world’s largest home improvement retailer, will hire 80,000 positions during its busiest selling season — similar to the Christmas holiday for other retailers.

That number marks a 10,000-worker increase from the 2012 season.

For Chattanooga, that means 135 positions are now open as the company prepares to kick off the spring season, according to a news release.

Job opportunities include both part-time and full-time work, and the company offers special help for returning military veterans. In its news release, the company encouraged technical school and college students, as well as retirees, to apply for positions.
