Gospel Hall of Famer at Sacred Sounds

Two award-winning performers will share their talents at the next Sacred Sounds concert at the Ringgold Depot, Depot Street at U.S. 41, in Ringgold, Ga. Set to perform Friday, Feb. 8, are tenor singer Archie Watkins, a Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame member, and Ryan Stinson, a country and gospel pianist who has won awards at music festivals around the area. Randall Franks will emcee the show.

A founding member of The Inspirations, Watkins has logged nearly 50 years in the spotlight. Singing News fan chose him Favorite Male Singer three times and Favorite Tenor four times. He also received gospel music's highest recognition, the Marvin Norcross Award.

Stinson, 23, of Ringgold, plays piano by ear. He specializes in the Nashville Sound "slip-note" style of playing popularized by Floyd Cramer. Stinson is a Pearl and Floyd Franks Scholar who studied religion/ministry through Luther Rice University and Seminary.

Admission donations -- $5 suggested for ages 6 and up -- support the scholarship fund, which is administered by the Share America Foundation.
