East Ridge resident shoots man breaking in

An East Ridge resident shot and wounded a man who was breaking into his home early today, police said.

The victim told East Ridge police the intruder, George N. Miles, 34, was his ex-boyfriend, spokesman Erik Hopkins said in a news release.

The victim said the two had been involved in a disorder earlier at the Walmart on Brainerd Road, and that Miles hat threatened to come to his home and kill him.

Police were called at 4:32 a.m. to the home on Greenbriar Road and found Miles with a gunshot wound to the upper torso.

The victim said Miles, of Rossville, had broken the bedroom window and was crawling through, yelling, "I'm going to kill you!" The victim said he fired one shot.

Miles was taken to Erlanger hospital where his condition wasn't immediately available.

Hopkins said the investigation continues and charges are pending.
