Two area players named finalists for TSSAA’s Mr. and Miss Basketball awards

Two area players have been named finalists for the TSSAA’s Mr. and Miss Basketball awards.

Despite missing the start of the season with an injury, Baylor’s Reggie Upshaw, a Middle Tennessee State University signee, is a finalist for the Division II-AA Mr. Basketball award and McMinn Central’s Elizabeth Masengil is a finalist for the Class AA Miss Basketball award. Masengil, a UT-Martin signee, won the award last year.

The presentation for the awards will be given during each respective state tournament. The D-II awards will be given Saturday, March 2, at David Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena and the Miss Basketball awards will be held March 9 at MTSU’s Murphy Center.
