Pedestrian struck in East Ridge, in critical condition

A 59-year-old man is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in East Ridge, police say.

Officers responded to the intersection of Mack Smith Road and Ringgold Road at about 8 p.m. Monday and found Dale Thomas Hampsted, who had been struck by a vehicle.

Hampsted was transported to Erlanger hospital.

Investigators said Hampsted was crossing the street when he was struck by a Ford Mustang driven by 75-year-old Kenneth L. Holcomb, of East Ridge, according to a news release.

Investigators are still trying to determine whether the vehicle or the pedestrian had the right of way.
