University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football coach Russ Huesman has promoted safeties coach Adam Braithwaite to defensive coordinator, he told the Times Free Press today.

Braithwaite will replace Adam Fuller, who left UTC after four seasons for a job at Marshall. Braithwaite joined Huesman's staff last February after serving as the defensive coordinator at Division III Christopher Newport University in 2011.

In addition to promoting Braithwaite, Huesman said he has hired former UTC player and assistant coach Rusty Wright, pending university approval. Wright, who has been the defensive coordinator at NAIA Reinhardt University for two seasons, will coach the linebackers.

Huesman said Fuller recommended Braithwaite for the job.

"He thought Adam would be a good candidate - very organized, knows this defense, hard worker - and I think with the addition of Rusty," Huesman said, "I think it's going to be a really good defensive staff."
