Location of body found in Marion County section of Tennessee River
Bradley Paul RogersA body found Saturday in Marion County, Tenn.'s stretch of the Tennessee River was identified Monday as that of missing U.S. Army Spc. Bradley Paul Rogers, who last was seen Feb. 3 in Chattanooga.
The state medical examiner's preliminary findings indicate no sign of foul play, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
Marion County Sheriff Bo Burnett said two fishermen boating on the Tennessee River found the body around the river's western bank across from the Raccoon Mountain Pumped Storage Plant.
"I'm almost certain that it is him based on some of the things found," Burnett said early Monday.
The fishermen spotted the body about 2 p.m. CST Saturday, he said.
Information found at the scene indicated Rogers' identity, Burnett said. There was nothing else of note found with the body, Burnett said.
According to Hamilton County Sheriff's Office officials, Rogers had just returned from overseas duty and was last seen at the Electric Cowboy at 5600 Brainerd Road on Feb. 3. He had not been heard from since that night, officials said.
Hamilton County officials said investigators are trying to sort out what happened.
"We're working in conjunction with Marion County," spokeswoman Janice Atkinson said Monday. "There's nothing official yet."
Atkinson said Hamilton County detectives were in the "very early stages" of their investigation.
