Chattanooga campaign disclosures trickling in

District 2 City Council candidate Roger Tuder leads the pack for most money raised by a council hopeful, according to early campaign reports.

Tuder has raised almost $40,000 since the beginning of his campaign, records show. He now has $27,952 on hand. He faces candidates Jerry Mitchell and Priscilla Simmons, who have yet to turn in their financial disclosures.

Campaign finance disclosures for city election candidates are due today by 4 p.m. Early voting runs until Thursday, and the city election is on March 5.

As of noon today, 11 of the 27 candidates running for Chattanooga mayor and City Council have turned in financial disclosures.

Chattanooga mayoral candidate Andy Berke has raised almost $675,000 for his campaign since it began last May, records show. Mayoral candidate Guy Satterfield reported raising and spending $1,849, and another mayoral candidate, Robert Chester Heathington Jr., has not yet turned in his disclosure.

Other notable financial disclosure statements include:

* Current District 4 Councilman Jack Benson raised $18,842 this quarter and has $8,812 on hand.

* District 5 Councilman Russell Gilbert, who is facing write-in candidate Robert Love, raised more than $19,000 and spent $14,679.

* District 9 candidate and former City Councilman Yusuf Hakeem raised $20,000 and has $12,675 on hand.
