One of Chicago’s leading dance companies will make its first appearance in Chattanooga on Tuesday, March 5, as part of the Patten Performances series at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
River North Chicago Dance Company, described by the Chicago Sun Times as “sleek, confident, athletic, daring [and] versatile,” is known for an eclectic jazz-based contemporary repertoire, heightened by highly skilled and emotive dancers, stimulating music and bold choreography. Core works by artistic director Frank Chaves are augmented with an array of pieces by nationally and internationally renowned choreographers.
The works demonstrate depth and sophistication, according to company officials, “yet what remains constant is the commitment to creating an accessible, enriching experience,” whether the audience is composed of seasoned dance patrons or those having their first encounter with concert dance.
Chaves says he aims for audiences to experience the complete spectrum of human emotions in a single evening.
“You don’t just see it, you feel it,” he says.
