Faith Briefs


• The United Methodist Day of Discipleship for the denomination's Chattanooga District will be Jan. 13 at 2 p.m. at Brainerd United Methodist Church, 4315 Brainerd Road. The Rev. David Graves, superintendent of the denomination's Kingsport District and former pastor at Ooltewah UMC, will preach at the 2:30 p.m. worship service. Breakout sessions at 3:15 p.m. include "Leading Vital Congregations," led by Graves; "Inviting and Inspiring Worship," led by Caroline Merrill, director of music and worship at Long's Chapel UMC, Waynesville, N.C.; "Nurture Through Small Groups," led by Devry Goghlan, groups coordinator at Cove UMC, Huntsville, Ala.; and "SPRC Member Training," led by the Rev. Mike Hubble, superintendent of the denomination's Chattanooga District, for members of congregational staff parish relations committees. Following the breakout groups, participants will help prepare 10,000 meals for Stop Hunger Now. For information, call the district office at 629-0333.

Andy Cornett has been appointed as associate pastor for youth and family ministry at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church, 612 James Blvd.; Glenn Roberts is now pastor at Cassandra Baptist Church, 1371 W. Cove Road, Chickamauga; Dwayne Boudreaux has resigned as pastor at Chattanooga Valley Baptist Church, 90 Nick A Jack Lane, to become director of missions for the Augusta Baptist Association.; the Rev. Eddie Frye is now pastor of Mountain View Baptist Church, 30 Meacham Road, in Rossville. ... Richard Byers has become interim pastor at Sulpher Springs Baptist Church, County Road 889, Valley Head, Ala. ...
