UTC men defeat Samford for first SoCon win

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga defeated Samford 74-70 to earn its first Southern Conference victory of the season.

Gee McGhee and Zaccheus Mason each scored 17 points for UTC (6-9, 1-1 SoCon), and Farad Cobb added 16 points.

Samford guard Raijon Kelly led all players with 27 points.

UTC led 39-38 at halftime after owning a16-point lead early in the first half.

Samford owned the ball with 7.3 seconds to play, but Kelly missed a 3-pointer and the Mocs grabbed the rebound and the win.
