A woman who told Chattanooga police she was accidentally shot by a friend Tuesday night wouldn't give the name of the shooter, a police spokesman said.

Umeka Beasley, 18, was shot in the arm and abdomen a little after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 3600 block of Ridgeside Road, spokesman Nathan Hartwig said in a news release. She was taken to a local hospital but her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Beasley told police the shooting was accidental. An investigation is ongoing, Hartwig said.

Anyone with information related to the shooting is asked to call the police department at 423-698-2525.
