The Tennessee Wesleyan College women's basketball team won 57-44 at first-place Milligan in Appalachian Athletic Conference play Saturday, and then the Wesleyan men supplanted the Buffaloes in first with an 82-79 victory.

Michelle Davis had 20 points and nine rebounds and Heather Gibson and Cody Houck had 11 and nine rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs (8-7, 5-2). Johneshia Good scored 18 points and Chattanooga's Kayla Kelly had 14 points and a team-high eight rebounds for the Lady Buffs (13-6, 6-1), who were just 18-of-66 from the field and 7-of-36 on 3-point tries.

Shannon Smith scored 15 points and Desmond Crisp, E'Jay Ward and Tyler Burse added 14, 13 and 12 for the Bulldogs (11-7, 5-1), Ward with five assists and Zamarius McClendon with eight rebounds. From a 73-all tie Smith scored the next five points and TWC kept the lead. Torian Sitton had 18 points and 10 rebounds for Milligan (12-7, 5-2).

In another AAC doubleheader, Bryan College beat the visiting St. Andrews women 62-44 behind 24 points and 10 rebounds from Morgan Burnette and rolled 89-60 in the men's game. Abigail Pippenger added 10 points and matched the five steals of Kelsey Brooks, who also had five assists for the Lady Lions (9-7, 4-3).

Derrick Walker and Robert Riley had 18 points apiece and nine and seven rebounds for the Lions (7-7, 3-3), Walker with five assists and Riley matching Tim Fortenberry with three steals, while Robert Troino scored 14 points and Brandon Cole had 10 with four steals and seven rebounds.

• At Cleveland, Lee University's high-ranked NAIA Division I teams pulled out a Southern States sweep against visiting Coastal Georgia. In a 72-69 win with 12 ties and 13 lead changes, Hollie German had 32 points and six assists for the fifth-ranked Lady Flames (15-1, 6-1), while Jenna Adams scored 14 points and Karlely Miller made four steals.

The No. 7 Flames (15-1, 7-1) won 89-78 after leading by 18 as Will Barnes and Jamorris Gaines scored 23 and 20 points, Duran Blue passed for eight assists and Chad Lee and Steve Bennett grabbed nine and eight rebounds. The team shot 58.6 percent to Coastal's 39.1. P.J. Reason scored 16 points and Kentorey Johnson had 15 plus 10 rebounds and four steals in defeat.

• At Winston-Salem, N.C., poor shooting and ball protection doomed Covenant's Lady Scots in a 66-45 Great South loss to Salem College. Jessie Blankenship was 5-of-6 from the field in scoring 12 points for Covenant (6-5, 1-1), but the team as a whole was 17-of-49, 0-of-9 from 3-point range and 11-of-26 on free throws and committed 30 turnovers. Alexis Storteboom had 15 rebounds and 11 points for Covenant. Satavia Taylor scored 21 and Jasmine Shabazz had 14 rebounds for the Spirits (8-5, 2-0).

• At Danville, Ky., Sewanee lost a Southern Athletic Association doubleheader as host Centre College took control in the first halves of a 56-37 women's win and a 59-45 men's triumph. Paige Baechle and Chelsea Benham had 21 and 20 points and 12 and 11 rebounds for the female Colonels. Paige Lowe had 15 points and three steals and Kayla Sewell grabbed nine rebounds in defeat.

In the men's game, Sewanee's Valentino Bryant matched the Colonels' two high scorers with 12 points and the Tigers' Brett Bouldin added 10. Sewanee (6-5, 0-4) shot 37 percent from the field and made one of only four free throws; Centre was 12-of-17 from the line.

• At Warner Robins, Ga., Sierra Smith's 11 points led a balanced scoring attack as the Georgia Northwestern Lady Bobcats rallied from a 12-point deficit in the second half and edged Middle Georgia Tech 51-49 in NJCAA Region XVII play. Odessa Person had 16 rebounds and Kiarra Parks and Smith made five and three steals for the Lady Cats (8-8, 2-0). Ashley West scored 21 points for the home team.
