The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s basketball team enjoyed a 21-point lead in the second half tonight. The College of Charleston did not go quietly, eventually trimming the margin to two before the Lady Mocs held on for a 64-53 win.
Ashlen Dewart sealed the victory, UTC's 20th straight at McKenzie Arena, with a putback of her own missed free throw as time expired, giving her a game-high 26 points.
It was a veteran play, one of many down the stretch for UTC (12-3, 5-1 SoCon). Dewart scored 7 points in the final 2:53, while Kayla Christopher made six straight free throws. Christopher was 8-for-8 from the line, scored 16 points and had six rebounds, five assists and three steals.
