Chattanooga Area Food Bank will present its sixth annual HullaBowloo fundraising gala Saturday, Jan. 19.
From 7 to 11 p.m., the Food Bank's warehouse will be transformed into a festive urban scene, alive with street performers, outdoor cafes and watering holes.
As they roam the city streets, attendees will feast on appetizers, entrees and desserts prepared by chefs from the area, including Gary Klein of Baylor School, Johnathan Payne of Covenant College and Rick Wright of the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn.
Also offering foods will be Dish T'Pass Cooking & Catering Co., Earth Fare, Jackson Bakery, Link 41 Sausages, Marco's Italian Bistro, MoonPie, Southern Star, Stone Cup Roasting Co., TBW Enterprizes and Whole Foods Market.
Athens Distributing and Big River Grille & Brewing Works will provide a bourbon tasting station and open bar.
HullaBowloo offers more than food and libations. A unique boutique will showcase artisan pieces and treasures from local businesses. A live auction will feature an original sculpture by Cessna Decosmio, a cocktail party at the Baylor School headmaster's house and a year's worth of date nights, including a two-hour picnic dinner cruise on Lake Chickamauga.
Matt Downer, Bandana Babes and the Ben Friberg Trio will entertain while guests mix, mingle and nosh. At 9 p.m. the dance floor opens for '80s hits performed by Rubiks Groove.
Proceeds from the evening will go to the Food Bank. In any given week, the Food Bank provides for up to 20,000 people in the area.
During HullaBowloo, guests are invited to make weekend sack packs for young schoolchildren who would otherwise not have food to eat.
