On heels of historic win, UTC Mocs face Catamounts

Time is short.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's basketball team completed the greatest comeback in the history of at least the John Shulman coaching era, if not the program's entire Division I era, Thursday.

And Shulman did not rewatch one single second of it.

He went from his postgame obligations to his office and watched Western Carolina's 64-60 loss at Samford -- WCU visits the Mocs tonight -- leaving assistants to dissect the comeback that UTC officials declare as historic.

"We don't have time to do anything," Shulman said. "I haven't watched it; I'm not going to watch it."

His Mocs won in glamorous fashion, coming from 19 points down with 6:36 to play, while the Catamounts lost an inglorious game in Birmingham.

The two teams will meet tonight at 7 in McKenzie Arena in a Southern Conference North Division contest.

"We lost two in a row, which is a summary of where we are," Catamounts coach Larry Hunter said. "They hurt last night that they couldn't take care of it at the end of the game. We're still growing and improving."

So are the Mocs. The absence of Dontay Hampton, who broke his hand Thursday, just three games into his season sends them back to a player rotation similar to what they used in the nonconference part of the season.

"Samford [6-12, 4-1] is leading the North and their loss is to us at their place, and how did 'Tay play in that game?" Shulman said. "He didn't play.

"So we're capable."
