THINGS I WISH MY KIDS WOULD ASK ME

EDITOR'S NOTE: Barry Courter has a 23-year-old son who graduated from college last year and a 19-year-old daughter who is a freshman in college.

Q: Dad, do you and mom ever fight or argue?

A: Not anymore. We are both too tired. Actually, I think we both figured out it was easier to discuss things while actually trying to hear the other person instead of trying to score points, and we realized that no one ever "wins" an argument between spouses. That doesn't always work and we get mad and have our feelings hurt sometimes. Of course, she's still wrong as often as she used to be, we just don't yell about it. I'm kidding. Oh, and don't confuse fighting with passion.
