Brush fire reported on Ooltewah-Georgetown Road

Residents of the 8500 block of Ooltewah-Georgetown Road have reported a fire in a nearby field.

The fire covers roughly 5 acres of land. Hamilton County firefighters have sufficiently controlled the fire that nearby structures are in no danger.

Officials have called on Tennessee Forestry Division for assistance in fighting the blaze. Bulldozers will plow a line around the flames to keep them from spreading further.

“I would think they should have it under control within the hour,” Jimmy Hillis, floor supervisor for Hamilton County 911, said about 7:15 p.m. today.
