Woman, 20, killed in hit-and-run
ATLANTA - A 20-year-old college student was killed in a hit-and-run incident over the weekend, and authorities are looking for the person responsible.
Alexandria Desir of Locust Grove was struck while she was walking on Rose Avenue in Barnesville late Saturday night, the Georgia State Patrol said.
Desir, a student at Gordon State College in Barnesville, was en route to a job at the Huddle House, the school said.
"We are all heartbroken at the tragic loss of this young woman's life," Gordon State spokeswoman Tamara Boatwright said in a statement.
Investigators are looking for a 2002 to 2005 Saturn Vue with damage to the right front corner and missing the light, the GSP said.

Ex-Sen. Sasser donates papers
NASHVILLE - Former U.S. Sen. James R. Sasser has donated his papers to Vanderbilt University.
Sasser, who also served as U.S. ambassador to the People's Republic of China, and his wife, Mary, have given their documents and photographs to the university's Special Collections.
James Sasser said Vanderbilt was the logical repository for his papers, noting that he and his wife met at the university as students in the 1950s and his law degree serves as the basis for his public service career.
The Sassers now live in Washington, D.C.
Declaration reading set today
RINGGOLD, Ga. - Members of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers are sponsoring a reading of the Declaration of Independence today on the Catoosa County Courthouse lawn.
The 11:30 a.m. reading, planned rain or shine, is held in conjunction with similar readings by criminal defense groups across the nation in honor of Independence Day. Anyone interested is encouraged to attend.
3 police officers fired after threat
PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. - Pigeon Forge police officials have fired three officers who previously had been suspended.
WATE-TV reported the department has investigated what officials said was a threat to shoot about 10 other officers in the department. No one was harmed.
Police Chief Jack Baldwin said cruiser dash camera audio of a June 8 meeting of officers Trinity Brown, Jefferson Thigpen and Michael Musgrove revealed they discussed such a plan. The station said the recording also revealed threats against the chief.
Brown, Thigpen and Musgrove were not charged.
Police Capt. Dennis Adams said Tuesday the officers were dismissed Monday.
