'Homegrown Artists' at Shanks - July 4-31

Aven Chadwell, an instructor at Cumberland County Playhouse, will exhibit a collection of dance costumes during July at the Shanks Center for the Arts, 140 N. Main St., in Crossville, Tenn.

Chadwell also will present an original dance that she choreographed for a college class project on On July 4.

The performance is part of the monthly First Thursdays receptions for artists, authors, musicians and guests.

Chadwell's costumes are on display in the Warehouse Gallery, which this month is featuring 15 "Homegrown Artists" who grew up in Cumberland County and are professionally engaging in their creative work. The exhibit includes clothing designers, furniture makers, clay potters and performers.

The front galleries contain original fine art and fine craft works by regional artists.

Simple refreshments will be served during the reception, which lasts from 5 to 7 p.m. The Shanks Center is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday (all times are Central).
